The Associate Board benefits from working directly with IWS - a long-established and prominent organization in the community. Associate Board members play an active role in planning various IWS events, engaging the young professional community to support IWS fundraising, participating in volunteer opportunities at the IWS facility, and supporting additional initiatives and causes championed by the IWS. Becoming an Associate Board Member is a great way to get involved with a wonderful non-profit, while engaging with other young professionals from the Chicagoland area
We are now recruiting new IWS Associate Board members for 2009 and 2010.
The Associate Board is comprised of four Committees:
- Board Development,
- Communications,
- Events & Fundraising and
- Finance
The Associate Board meets quarterly to report on each committee’s progress and to discuss new initiatives. Board meetings also provide a fun opportunity for networking and socializing with other members of the group. Committees meet monthly throughout the year to plan and carry out each of their specific objectives.
Board Development
Primarily responsible for recruiting new members to the Associate Board, this committee pursues the philanthropic and networking interests of young professionals in the Chicagoland area. Board Development members also work to maintain and foster existing memberships by collaborating with the Fundraising and Communications committees. In working with the Finance Committee, Board Development members also assist with seeking and establishing corporate sponsors, private donors and partners and collaborators.
Communications
Through a quarterly Associate Board publication, group e-mails, an events calendar, and our news website, the Communications Committee keeps members informed of the latest developments, upcoming events and meetings. Communications works closely with the other committees to market future social, networking and volunteer events by producing flyers, media alerts and electronic invitations.
Events and Fundraising
Reaching out to local businesses and companies, the Events and Fundraising Committee conceptualizes and plans creative fundraising, social/networking and volunteer events on a budget. Events and Fundraising collaborates closely with Finance, Communications and Board Development to recruit new members to fundraise and volunteer and, additionally, to offer existing members a social, networking outlet within the Associate Board.
Finance
In creating budgets and tracking expenses, membership dues, and corporate and private donations and sponsorship, the Finance Committee actualizes/bolsters/? the efforts of the Events and Fundraising, Board Development and Communications committees. Finance also seeks out creative payment and revenue tracking methods and engages area businesses and companies in collaboration and sponsorship efforts.
