IWS AB - Member Profile

Alejandra Ros, IWSAB Board Development Chairperson
IWS-AB: What is your current/most recent position?
Ale: I am currently a full-time graduate student at the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. This summer, I have been doing a research project on the role of child care centers in the prevention of childhood obesity in Chicago.
IWS-AB: What is your current position on the IWS Associate Board?
Ale: I am the Chair of the Board Development Committee.
IWS-AB: How did you hear about the Associate Board?
Ale: I heard about the Associate Board through Chad Bassett, former President of the Associate Board. As soon as I visited the Infant Welfare Society and met its wonderful staff, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Associate Board.
IWS-AB: How has volunteering with the IWS Associate Board enriched your life?
Ale: Volunteering with the IWS Associate Board has been especially gratifying because IWS is such a great organization. They provide quality, comprehensive healthcare to an underserved population. I've also really enjoyed getting to know the other Associate Board members and making new friends.
IWS-AB: Tell us about your travels to México.
Ale: I was born in Mexico City, and I still have family living there, including my 18-month-old niece. I try to go to Mexico twice a year to visit family members and just relax.
IWS-AB: Which degree are you pursuing and what are your plans after graduation?
Ale: I am working on an M.A. in Social Service Administration. I graduate in June of 2010 but have yet to decide on what I am going to do after graduation.
