Donation News Update

On July 23, the IWS clinic in Logan Square suffered severe damage on the lower level when torrential rains and subsequent flooding swept through the Chicago area. The downpour ruptured a storm sewer and flooded the clinic’s basement.  The flood waters did significant damage to the lower level of the facility and rendered completely inoperative the electrical core of the clinic, the plumbing system and the com pressor needed for dental surgery.

As a result, the IWS clinic will be closed until electrical power can be restored in late September. While repairs are underway, vital services are being provided in an alternate site across the street under the guidance of Dr. Wilhelm and his staff, who under extremely challenging cir cumstances are doing an exemplary job caring for the children and families who rely on us.

While insurance may cover much of the repair costs, it will not cover all losses.  Furthermore, the considerable reduction in our number of patient visits will likely have a significant adverse effect on income.  It will undoubtedly take some time to fully restore our patient schedule and the associated revenue flow, which will likely compound the economic consequences of the tempo rary clinic closure.  In short, the total financial impact of the flood will be huge.
